Lemon Steamed Spinach

French Fridays with Dorie – Happy National Haiku Day!

Lemon Steamed Spinach

Its simple, really.

Catalogue annoyances

then find perspective.

Dude, you have a job.

Those you love came home last night

Who cares about “stress”?

So what if your late

and never post on fridays?

Get over it girl!

Still, I have to eat

and not much time for cooking.

(Food blogger problems.)

And I have to choose

drop dead simple foods such as

lemon-steamed spinach

Guess what today is?

The day we all celebrate

haiku poetry.

Lemon Steamed Spinach
You’d think that with an easy assignment like this Lemon Steamed Spinach I would be able to get up a French Fridays with Dorie post on time and not have to resort to haiku. ย Nope. ย Especially when it is National Haiku Day! ย  Did you think I would miss it? Not a chance.
Lemon Steamed Spinach IS the haiku of dishes. ย Simple, poetic, elegant. Meaningful. ย Enjoy.

About Trevor Kensey

I don't know what โ€œSis. Boom. [blog!]" means either. But, if a post makes even a small 'boom' in your day, I would be happy. Please don't call me a "foodie", or even a food blogger. I prefer "food raconteur" thank you very much.
Each bite tells a story...

  4. I wish I could Haiku, but itโ€™s not one of my talentsโ€ฆgreat post! Happy Haiku Day!!

  5. For haiku day I have decided to be perverse and offer you an Elizabethan sonnet inspired by your post:

‘Twas dinnertime – I woke as from a dream
The day was gone, & I had spent it thus.
Now barely time to find some greens to steam
I’d best make them quickly & w/o much fuss

Oh! Why do I find myself in such a mess?
Wasting my years wondering what could have been?
In truth, I do not suffer what most call stress
My life is by and large carefree and keen

And yet, ’tis human to complain and fret
Even though I have the luxury to blog
(& if you’re reading this, so do you I’ll bet)
So shake your head and get out of your fog

Do as Trevor: Roll up your sleeves and bake
And wake your lover with a slice of cake

  6. A day for haiku?
Why do we need a whole day?
